PADI Rebreather (Dolphin) Diver course

The principle of the rebreather goes back a long time, even from before the invention of the regulators that we use today for diving. The advantage of the rebreather in comparison with the regulator is that it recycles the used air. The air that you exhale does not escape (like with a regular regulator), but is directed through a scrubber which removes the carbon dioxide from the exhaled air. The rebreather then “restores” the normal oxygen percentage by adding some nitrox into the air, before you breathe it in again.

When you dive with a rebreather you will hardly produce any bubbles and this is ideal when making underwater video or photography.
You will be diving with a Dolphin semi closed rebreather manufactured by Drager and learn al the in's and out's of it.

During the course you will make a total of four dives with the rebreather, learn how to plan the dives, maintenance of the rebreather, security inspections and special procedures.

To qualify for the PADI semi closed rebreather course, an individual must:

  • Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization (for this program, a qualifying certification is proof of certification beyond entry level with experience in deep diving and underwater navigation) or as a PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification) with proof of at least 10 dives logged beyond training dives for Open Water Diver certification.
