The preparation of this transport took a few months and Atlantis Diving placed all their facilities and equipment at the disposal of the research. After the transplants were collected, they got time to recover, before getting transported to The Netherlands. The sponges will further develop in the new ‘deep reef aquarium’ at Diergaarde Blijdorp.
The knowledge we gained during this project we will use in the lasting struggle to protect and preserve the reefs around Curacao. |
